Car Rental

Driving in the north of Morocco is easy and opens up the whole beautiful countryside to you. It can be a bit chaotic in the town centres, with seemingly no rules of the road, but nonetheless, it works!

As the resort at Saidia is still at an early stage, with few facilities, it is almost essential to have a car for shopping and sightseeing.

It can be relatively inexpensive if you book in advance, with several of the big companies (Europcar, Avis, Budget) offering cars at Oujda and Nador; in Melilla the choice is limited to one local company, which you need to arrange on arrival, as they never answer emails or telephones.

We usually use Tiger Car Rentals, an internet booking service, which consistently offers the best prices and an excellent service by searching all car rental companies on your behalf; but there are many such others eg Morocco Car Rental, Globel-Cars, Avis and Europcar.

Typically, when you arrive, the car rental office will be empty, but there will be a telephone number on display. When you ring this number, someone will come out to the airport within 20 minutes or so.

The minimum age for driving is 21 and a standard European driving licence is accepted.
